User roles control what each member of your team can see and do in the Zopa Dashboard.
Each user is assigned at least one role, which gives them a predefined set of permissions. This helps you give people access to the areas and actions they need while restricting access to everything else.
Can a user have more than one role?
Yes. User roles are additive, which means you can assign multiple roles to the same user.
When a user has more than one role, their permissions are combined. They'll have access to everything allowed by each of their assigned roles.
For example, if one role gives a user access to view transactions and another allows them to manage refunds, assigning both roles will give them both sets of permissions.
Feature rollout in progress
User roles are currently being released. If youโd like this feature enabled on your account, please contact support at merchantsupport@zopa.comย
Who can manage user roles?
Only a Super Administrator can assign or change roles and permissions.
Super Administrators and Administrators can invite and manage users, but Administrators cannot assign or change roles or permissions.
To manage your team, go to Settings โ Users in the Zopa Dashboard.
Which role should I choose?
There are nine roles available.
| If the user is a... | Recommended role |
|---|---|
| Account owner or IT administrator | Super Administrator |
| Senior operations manager | Administrator |
| Finance or accounts team member | Finance |
| Warehouse or operations team member | Logistics |
| Sales team lead | Sales Manager |
| Individual sales representative | Sales |
| Contact centre or support agent | Customer Support |
| Analyst or BI team member | Reporting & Insights |
| Auditor or someone who only needs to view information | Read Only |
Super Administrator
The Super Administrator has full access to the Zopa Dashboard.
They can:
- Access and manage all areas of the dashboard
- Invite and remove users
- Assign and change roles and permissions
- Manage account settings and configuration
This is the account-owner role and is typically suitable for one or two people responsible for the account.
Administrator
The Administrator has full operational access to the Zopa Dashboard and can manage users.
Their day-to-day operational access is the same as a Super Administrator, but they cannot assign or change roles or permissions.
This role is suitable for senior operations managers who need to manage the team without controlling account-level access permissions.
Finance
The Finance role is designed for finance and accounts teams.
Finance users can:
- View, capture and operate payments
- Process refunds and voids
- Run Zopa Retail Finance fulfilment
- View invoicing, banking and transfers
- Access financial reporting
- Export transactions
- View payment links
They cannot manage users, change settings or manage payment links.
Logistics
The Logistics role is designed for operations teams.
Logistics users can:
- Manage payments
- Manage the fulfilment lifecycle
- Create and manage payment links
- Manage customer records
- Export transactions
They cannot process refunds or voids and cannot access financial reporting or invoicing.
Sales Manager
The Sales Manager role is designed for sales leads and team managers.
Sales Managers can:
- Create and manage payment sessions
- Create and manage payment links
- View customer records
- View financial reporting
They cannot process refunds, run fulfilment or export transactions.
Sales
The Sales role is designed for individual sales staff.
Sales users can:
- Create payment sessions
- Create and manage payment links
- View customers
Sales users only see their own records
Payment and payment link list views only show records created by that Sales user. The Zopa Dashboard applies this automatically.
This does not change the actions a Sales user can take. It only controls which records they can see.
Sales users cannot process refunds, run fulfilment or export transactions.
Customer Support
The Customer Support role is designed for contact centre and support agents.
Customer Support users can:
- View payment details
- Manage customer records, including non-financial edits
- Resend and manage payment links
Their access to payments is view only.
They cannot process refunds or voids, or export transactions.
Reporting & Insights
The Reporting & Insights role is designed for analysts and reporting teams who need access to information without operational permissions.
Reporting & Insights users can:
- View payments
- View customers
- View invoicing
- View payment links
- Access financial reporting
- Export transactions
They cannot make changes or take operational actions.
Read Only
Read Only is the most restricted role.
Read Only users can view most areas of the Zopa Dashboard, including the user directory, but cannot take actions or export data.
They cannot access API credentials or banking details.
Compare role permissions
The tables below show what each role can access and manage in the Zopa Dashboard.
Manage means the user can view and create, edit or operate within that area.
View means the user has read-only access.
โ means the user has access to that action.
โ means the user does not have access.

Permission notes
- Only Super Administrators and Administrators can delete or void invoices and credit notes. Other roles with invoicing access cannot delete or void them.
- Operational roles can see a colleague's name when it's shown in context, such as Created by, but cannot browse the user directory or manage team members.
- Settings & config includes payment methods, branding, domains, webhooks, integrations, notifications, merchant profile, banking, transfers, documents, audit log and products. Only Super Administrators and Administrators can change these settings. Other roles have partial read-only access, such as payment methods and merchant profile.
- Sales users only see their own records. Payment and payment link list views are automatically limited to records created by that user.
- Read Only users can view the user directory but cannot manage users. They cannot access API credentials or banking details.
